Master's Programme "Food System Sciences"

** Subject to the Approval of the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts **

From interdisciplinarity to in-depth specialisations for future food security.

The complex world of food is of great importance for many areas of society. The ingredients of food have an immediate impact on human health, while production methods and supply chain management additionally contribute to the health of the environment. Novel food products seek legislation to make the food system more sustainable and healthy.
The Food System Sciences Master’s degree course at the University of Bayreuth offers an interdisciplinary programme integrating different aspects of the food system, allowing students to gain insights into the interfaces between Food Chemistry, Human Physiology, Food Law, and the Bioeconomy. This interdisciplinary basis followed by in-depth specialisations in one of the food system areas will allow you to make a significant contribution to ensure a sufficient, high quality food supply for the growing world population.

Be part of it and apply for our master's programme! We are looking forward to receiving your application!

For winter semester 2024/25, applications can be submitted between March 1 and June 15, 2024. We encourage prospective students to apply early (especially if they need a visa).

Go to the application platform here!

Please note: Applicants from outside the EU who have obtained their degree abroad have to first upload the application documents via uni-assist (possible at any time of the year) and undergo a fee-based special procedure.
